Throughout this 2-day workshop, participants will explore, Arimatsu Shibori; the traditional Japanese resist dyeing technique and how to work with a natural indigo vat. Stitching, pleating, binding and pole wrapping are some of the techniques covered. Participants create their own set of unique samples including a final piece such as a scarf or wall hanging. All materials will be provided; including a selection of cellulose fibres: cotton, rayon, hemp and linen. Together we will discuss indigo’s long, rich history, a variety of recipes and how to care for a natural vat. No previous experience necessary.
