Silkscreen printing originated in China as a method for transferring designs and imagery onto fabric. Ink was forced through a mesh—originally made from woven human hair—onto the fabric using stiff brushes. Today, screens are made from polyester mesh stretched over an aluminum frame. Using a tool called a squeegee, pressure is applied as it is pulled across the screen, pushing ink through the mesh to leave an impression on the chosen surface.

Join me in the studio for a fun make-and-take workshop that introduces you to the process of silkscreen printing. For this project, we will use pre-prepared screens and paper stencils to explore colour blocking. By printing layers of colour, we will create a dynamic, collage-style print on a tea towel and finish with a 2026 calendar print.

Level: Beginner (12 and up). *Persons under the age of 16 must attend with an adult.

Workshops are non-refundable.
